Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani

Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani is serving as the Director of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in New Delhi, India, since 2022. In this role, he leads NCERT in shaping the country's educational framework, focusing on curriculum development, academic research, and enhancing teaching standards. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing educational reforms and aligning NCERT’s initiatives with the evolving needs of India's education system.

A Journey towards Academic Excellence

Throughout his distinguished administrative career, Prof. Saklani held several key positions, contributing significantly to the development and efficient functioning of numerous departments and committees. He was the Head of the Department of History, Ancient Indian History, Culture & Archaeology until February 10, 2022. From July 2017 to February 2022, he was the Campus Director, overseeing various aspects of campus management and academic coordination. His commitment to student welfare is reflected in his role as Chief of the University Anti-Ragging Squad (2009-2014) and Chief Proctor during the same period. Additionally, Prof. Saklani served as the Center for Folk & Performing Art Coordinator from 2021 to February 2022, promoting the integration of cultural studies into academic curricula. He was also the Nodal Officer for the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) from 2020 to February 2022, contributing to the institution's academic excellence. As Convener of both the Library Committee and the Central Purchase Committee, he played a key role in improving the university's operational infrastructure.

In recognition of his leadership abilities, Prof. Saklani was given the additional charge of Chairperson for the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) from February 2022 to January 2023. He also served as the Deputy Controller of Examinations from 1999 to 2001, bringing administrative efficiency to academic assessments at Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. His long-standing involvement in various university committees, including the Academic Council, Planning and Development Committee, and Campus Development Committee, further showcases his deep commitment to institutional development. His early service as Assistant Proctor and member of multiple working groups solidified his legacy as an educator and administrator dedicated to enhancing academic standards and institutional growth.
